Mama Luigi's Restaurant & Banquets

This place is so good! They have plenty of space, so don't be discouraged if you see a full parking lot. Our server was delightful, and the food got to us quickly. Even the bread and marinara before the food got to us was delicious. I highly recommend this place to anyone coming alone or with their family.

Very good food, you get decent sized portions (plates are huge large entree). To start with, you get fresh bread, mini wrapped butters, crumbled cheese, and a mixed tomato topper. Make sure to spread the mix on top of the bread and add the cheese on top, it's delicious. Then we had appetizers: I got the mozzarella sticks and my husband got the stuffed mushrooms. I personally wasn't a fan of the mushrooms because they were too dry for me, but the mozzarella sticks were soft/lightly breaded and the marinara was very fresh. Next was soup/salad, and I got the Minestrone soup. It had a nice variety of veggies in it and tasted good. As for an entree, I got the chicken parmigiana stuffed shells combo. I will admit, I personally wasn't a big fan of it, although the stuffed shells were pretty good. My husband got the tortellini w/ chicken and broccoli, and honestly, I wish I had gotten that because it was absolutely delicious. For dessert we had the Tiramisu, be careful if you do get it because it does have alcohol in it. Not a *large* amount, but just enough to feel it in your mouth. The cream and cocoa on top were good and very soft, so I recommend. Overall, I'd give this place a 9/10! Definitely worth trying if you're in the area.

WOW! Amazing! These best Lasagna I have ever eaten! Rich, light, fluffy, melt in your mouth delicious. Old school Italian Restaurant family owned and they must use the best ingredients very top notch for the flavor! Tiramisu also exquisite! Portion size unbelievable and generous! If your a trucker and parked at the Pilot this is where you need to eat! Just saying!

It's about time I wrote a review for this place, as we've been here so many times over the past 12 years or so, and it really is one of our family's top favorite restaurants! The main reason we keep coming back? The consistently fantastic service! Every single time, we are greeted warmly, with cheerful smiling faces and genuine friendliness, not just politeness. They're not just reciting a script, they seem genuinely pleased to see you and interested in you, and they pay attention to every detail, and time everything just perfectly. We've gotten to know Kaitlyn now - she always recognizes and greets us warmly, and is so enthusiastic and fun. Even though she wasn't our server last night, she waved at us and said "hi" as she went by! :) Last night, we had Luca (Luka?) - not sure of the spelling. Such a wonderful friendly young man. We asked him for recommendations from the menu, and he really knew all the dishes well, and could describe to us in detail exactly what to expect. (At some restaurants, the wait staff don't seem to know their own menus that well!) Just like all the other servers, he was very attentive and friendly. At the end of the meal, when I ordered a latte, he apologized that their espresso machine wasn't working, and offered a regular coffee instead. But then, he went above and beyond and came back with something that he had hand made himself! (As he used to be a barista). It was the most delicious latte I think I've ever had! Such a nice gesture! The other main reason we keep coming back? The consistently excellent food! There's something for everyone it seems - even picky eaters. We feel confident bringing any friend or family member here, as we know we won't be disappointed. Last night was another fantastic evening here. My daughter and I both had one of the "Entree Specials" - the Blackened Salmon, served over a bed of fettuccine pasta with an amazing cheese sauce. (I don't remember the exact description from the menu, but it was absolutely delicious!) The salmon was juicy and tender, the blackened seasoning was so tasty, and it went so well with the cheesy, garlicky pasta sauce, and the pasta itself was very fresh and had a perfect texture. My daughter and I were "mmmm-ing" and "ahhhh-ing" the whole time! My son had the Scampi Mary, from the seafood section, and was very happy with it. My husband had the Veal Parmigiana and was very pleased with his choice. (I had a taste of his, and it was delicious too!) Two of our friends (more picky eaters!) simply had pepperoni pizzas, but they were very happy with them too. The soup of the day was tomato-basil - one of my favorite soups, and it was every bit as tasty as I'd hoped! At the end, we had 3 desserts, the carrot cake, the chocolate tartufo and the lemon sorbet - all very different but all very yummy. Also, we were glad we happened to be there on a Monday this time, so we took advantage of their "half price wine" Monday deal! We ordered a bottle of one of the most expensive red wines on the list (that we wouldn't normally get) - the Bonanza Cabernet Sauvignon - and it really was delicious! We also always enjoy the fresh crusty bread and bruschetta sauce, olive oil, etc, that they serve at the beginning too. And the jugs of water are regularly refilled. We've been here for many birthdays, anniversaries & other special occasions, and we often bring out-of-town guests here, when they're staying with us. The combination of the great service, delicious food and warm atmosphere has always been so lovely and satisfying. We sometimes say, "oh let's try somewhere else for a change" but then often end up coming back here, knowing we can rely on this place to be just what we want! :)

Being at Mama Luigi's brought back so many memories for me when we used to have family dinners every Sunday at my Grandma's house growing up. It made me miss those memories so much. The food is incredible!!!! You can fill up on the warm bread basket alone! The portions are so big, you will be leaving with leftovers and that is a good thing!!! I just adore the atmosphere and enjoying dinner with my friend's.

Excellent Mother’s Day brunch! Only thing I wish is they had lids for their buffet food. A few items were on the cold side for the second meal setting. Still, you can’t beat the sub 40 price per guest. The dessert tray was impeccable and there were no limits to what you could and couldn’t eat with everything being available that was on the flyer! The wine also was reasonable at 7 a glass which most places would overcharge for a holiday. We’ve had several family dinners here and my grandmas funeral luncheon and continue to be impressed by the staff and the food. Thank you for providing a great experience at a reasonable price! As a business owner myself, I would suggest having the owner add themselves to local Facebook groups (oak lawn citizens, mount greenwood pages, etc. ) to post a flyer 3-4 weeks in advance about the buffet for any special “event”. This is the best form of word of mouth these days. You might just be able to fill enough seats for that expected third seating time ;)

We had a fabulous Saturday dinner here! We were in town for the evening and went here in a whim....so glad we did....they had live music in the bar area. They were great! Sporting dinner costs and playing 70/80s hits. We ordered calamari to start. Bread also came. I ordered the vodka sauce with rigatoni with meatballs and then we finished with tiramisu. Everything was excellent. Big portions. Freshly prepared food with tons of flavor. Friendly staff. I would love to come back!!

Definitely I will come back with my family and friends. Pasta is delicious love the environment the attention and service is super nice! I definitely recommend this place !
